Meet Our Staff: The Nelsons
Todd and Sue Nelson are another incredible couple here on staff! I personally learned so much from Todd’s elective on Roman Catholicism. I’ve also enjoyed the way Sue gets staff and intern ladies together for social events. It’s a treasure to see their smiling faces around campus!

Where are you from originally?
Todd: Jackson, Michigan.
Sue: Grew up in the Detroit area, Michigan, but lived in Jackson when we got married.
When did you join the Ethnos360 Bible Institute team?
January 2011.
What’s your role at Ethnos360 Bible Institute?
Todd: Business Director, Teacher, and Leadership Team.
Sue: Assistant to Business Director: I’m the “parking lady,” Ladies Care & Coordinating Team: Receptionists’ Coordinator, and I serve one morning in childcare.
What is your favorite thing about serving at Ethnos360 Bible Institute?
Todd: Teaching, engagement with students, and discipleship.
Sue: EBI is a growing, challenging, gracious group of young people and co-workers who desire to serve the Lord, learn, and grow. What a wonderful and special place to serve Him!
What is something the student body might not know about you?
Todd: I had my own business as an insurance agent for twenty-nine years before joining Ethnos as a missionary.
Sue: Before moving to Waukesha for the EBI consolidation of the two schools, I had only ever lived in Michigan my whole life.
At what point in your life were you convinced to become involved with missions?
Todd: At the age of fifty, in an insurance business meeting, I decided I wanted to do something more, to serve the Lord in missions.
Sue: When I was forty years old as a student at New Tribes Bible Institute in Jackson.
Where’s your favorite place to eat or thing to do here around Waukesha?
Todd: Love the Chicago-style pizza at Lou Malnati’s!
Sue: We love being close to Lake Michigan. I find it relaxing to walk along the beach looking for beach glass. We really enjoy going at night looking for Yooperlites.
What pastimes do you enjoy?
Todd: Watching any University of Michigan sports and visiting our seven grandkids.
Sue: Thrifting—Waukesha has the best thrift stores! Gardening, houseplants, and crocheting.
Do you have a “hero of the faith” that you admire, and if so, what about them is inspiring?
Todd: Tom Harmon, itinerant preacher and friend back in Michigan, has always been a special encouragement and mentor to me.
Sue: Lisa Hatton is a best friend and co-worker of mine. She always points me to the Lord with what she says and how she lives her life faithfully to the Lord.
Who is your favorite author or musician?
Todd: Miles Stanford, author of The Complete Green Letters.
Sue: Dennis McCallum, author of Walking in Victory. I love all of Danny Gokey’s music the most.
Where is your favorite place to spend time?
Todd: With our family, either in Tennessee, Denver, Arizona, or Michigan.
Sue: Same as Todd—or at Lake Michigan or a thrift store!
