Meet Our Staff: Biss Fyock

Biss is a dean here at Ethnos360 Bible Institute. She does an incredible job of shepherding the RA’s and getting to know many of the single lady students. When I was a student and was meeting with her, I always knew I could count on her to be open and honest about what she was going through and what the Lord was teaching her. If you’re a lady on campus,  I highly recommend asking her to go for coffee or a walk with you!

Where are you from originally?
Being an MK, that’s always a hard one to answer. I was born on the east coast, spent a good chunk of my childhood in South America , and then WI after that.

When did you join the Ethnos360 Bible Institute team?
I came on staff in Fall of 2021.

What’s your role at Ethnos360 Bible Institute?
I have the privilege of serving in the Student Life department as a Dean of Single Women.

What is your favorite thing about serving at Ethnos360 Bible Institute?
I know everyone says it, but I love the community. It’s an honor to interact and grow with them every day!

What is something the student body might not know about you?
I buy myself a new blanket each year. It’s my cozy tradition!

At what point in your life were you convinced to become involved with missions?
This is a loaded question for me. The Lord has been patiently and consistently convincing me over the past many years that He wants me to GO. It’s not been a cut and dry topic in my life. If you want to hear more of that story, you’ll have to ask me in person!

What’s your favorite place to eat or thing to do here around Waukesha?
I love too many food places in this area, but one of my top favorites is Pho L’Amour!

What pastimes do you enjoy?
Spending time with family and friends, reading, journaling, walking, being outside, cooking, baking…

Do you have a “hero of the faith” that you admire, and if so, what about them is inspiring?
Lately, it’s been Elisabeth Elliot. What a woman. Though I may not always agree with everything she wrote/said, her wisdom, faith, perseverance and faithfulness in the midst of difficulty have encouraged and challenged me in so many ways!

Who is your favorite author or musician?
I never know how to answer “favorite” questions; I usually have too many to narrow it down! I tend to gravitate towards chill, easy-listening music…and if it has creative lyrics or tells a story , I love it even more! Ever heard the song “Better Now” by The Vespers? It’s a good one.

Where is your favorite place to spend time?
Favorite place to go out and be productive: Hop Harvest and Vine.
Favorite place to chill: At  home with my cat and maybe a friend or two.
Favorite place in the area to get fresh air: Retzer Nature Center.
