Meet Our Staff: The Days

Mike and Kristi Day are another wonderful couple here at Ethnos360 Bible Institute! I think Mike is the first staff member I talked to. He handles the application process. His wife, Kristi, works in the on-campus coffee shop called Resthaven. She’s always so friendly and sweet!

Where are you from originally?
We were both born and raised in California.

When did you join the Ethnos360 Bible Institute team?
We were approved as members of Ethnos360 in 2013, and we joined the EBI staff in 2014.

What’s your role at Ethnos360 Bible Institute?
Mike: I’m the Admissions Director and I serve on the administrative board.
Kristi: I am the Resthaven Cafe coordinator.

What is your favorite thing about serving at Ethnos360 Bible Institute?
Mike: I enjoy being an integral part of each applicant’s journey toward becoming a student, and I love it when students go on to serve with Ethnos360!
Kristi: I enjoy being part of a staff that is like-minded in training up students who go on to reach the least-reached corners of the world with the Gospel.

What is something the student body might not know about you?
Mike: I used to be into skateboarding in high school, and I played drums in a Christian band that toured the USA.
Kristi: I was in the cast of a traveling musical drama team in the ‘90s that told the story of Jim Elliot and the missionaries who were killed in Ecuador. During my final year on the team, I got to visit Ecuador and fly over the sandbar where the incident took place.

At what point in your life were you convinced to become involved with missions?
Mike: I grew up as a pastor’s kid reading missionary biographies. I was mesmerized by the stories of culture, language, hardship, and adventure. In my twenties, I traveled with a Christian band for two years and then worked at a church for nine years. I started pursuing missions at thirty-five years old.
Kristi: The summer after high school was the first time I considered serving the Lord in missions. It was nearly twelve years later that my husband and I attended New Tribes Bible Institute with a plan to serve in some way that impacted unreached people groups.

Where’s your favorite place to eat or thing to do here around Waukesha?
Mike: I like to go on walks in the many parks in Waukesha County, and my favorite restaurant experience is The Fox and Hounds.
Kristi: I enjoy browsing antique stores, and my favorite restaurant is Texas Roadhouse.

What pastimes do you enjoy?
Mike: In my spare time, I enjoy writing and recording music, watching movies, and reading.
Kristi: In my spare time, I enjoy hand lettering, going on walks with my husband and dog, and making holidays and birthdays special for my family.

Do you have a “hero of the faith” that you admire, and if so, what about them is inspiring?
Mike: My faith hero is the late pastor and author Timothy Keller. What I find so inspiring about him is his ability to find nuance in challenging topics and to weave the gospel into every Biblical passage.
Kristi: My heroes of the faith are Marge Saint and the other wives whose husbands died while being missionaries in Ecuador. Their faith and dedication to continuing the work after tragedy is inspiring!

Who is your favorite author or musician?
Mike: What I find most unique about my musical tastes is that I literally listen to and enjoy every genre and sub-genre. Classical, Jazz, Rock, Rap, Indie, Folk, etc.
Kristi: Some of my favorite artists are Jon Foreman, Citizens, and Rend Collective.

Where is your favorite place to spend time?
Mike: At home with my wife, kids, and dog!
Kristi: At home with my family!
