Meet Our Staff: The Mundys

The Mundys are another couple here on staff. As a student, I loved seeing Dean’s friendly face in the finance office whenever I had to stop by and pay a school bill. He makes school finances a little less “scary.”

Where are you from originally?
Dean: Born in Indiana. Grew up in Florida.
Loretta: Mansfield, Ohio.

When did you join the Ethnos360 Bible Institute team?
We moved here in January 2002—although some people think we were here before the building.

What’s your role at Ethnos360 Bible Institute?
Dean: Finance director. For the first twelve years, I was in the kitchen. There I was a  helper, shift head, salad bar and bakery and back to head cook.
Loretta: Bakery, library, bookstore, education office, receptionist…

What is your favorite thing about serving at Ethnos360 Bible Institute?
Being around the students.

What is something the student body might not know about you?
Dean: I wrote an opinion column for the Milwaukee paper for about a year.
Loretta: I come from a family of ten—five boys and three girls.

At what point in your life were you convinced to become involved with missions?
Dean: During Bible college. We had a lot of missionary speakers in chapel, and we had an Ethnos360 (then New Tribes) missionary my home church supported.
Loretta: Eighth grade.

Where’s your favorite place to eat or thing to do here around Waukesha?
Dean: We love Sunset Family Restaurant and Texas Roadhouse. Culver’s is the best hamburger place. I like to walk around downtown.

What pastimes do you enjoy?
Dean and Loretta: Watching TV, reading, social media. Funny things the grandkids say.

Do you have a “hero of the faith” that you admire, and if so, what about them is inspiring?
Dean: The martyrs of Ethnos360, Jim Elliott and the other men killed, Paul Fleming. They gave all for God and spreading His word.
Loretta: I grew up in a Christian home, so there were many.

Who is your favorite author or musician?
Dean: My favorite author is Tom Clancy. Favorite Christian author is William R. Newell. Favorite musicians are Greater Vision Trio and Casting Crowns.
Loretta: My favorite Christian fiction author is Terri Blackstock. For non-fiction, I’d say Sharon Jaynes, and Robert McGee, especially his book Search for Significance.

Where is your favorite place to spend time?
Both: In our easy chairs. Hanging out with family when we can.
