Meet Our Staff: The Royers
Andrew and Sara Royer are another couple here on staff. I learned so much from the Family Relationships class they taught! They’re a great example of a Godly, loving couple. Andrew is currently president of the Bible school and also teaches a handful of classes including Pastoral Epistles (Titus, 1 and 2 Timothy). Sara fills several roles, and I’ve gotten the pleasure of working with her on the Advancement Team.

Where are you from originally?
Andrew: I was born and raised in Brazil, South America. Then, I spent about 15 years in Indiana.
Sara: I grew up in a small rural town in Ohio before I also moved to Indiana (which is where we met).
When did you join the Ethnos360 Bible Institute team?
We joined Ethnos360 in 2013 and moved to Brazil to train Brazilians at their Bible school. In 2017, we moved to Waukesha to join the EBI team.
What’s your role at Ethnos360 Bible Institute?
Andrew: I serve as the president and a Bible teacher.
Sara: I currently serve on the Staff Ladies’ Care + Coordinating Team. I lead the Design Team and am part of the Advancement Team as copy editor. We also teach the Family Relationships Class each fall.
What is your favorite thing about serving at Ethnos360 Bible Institute?
Andrew: Seeing young adults come alive in their faith, to understand and value the Word of God.
Sara: We are thrilled to be a part of a global team that is focused on reaching the unreached, to see our students fan out all over the world!
What is something the student body might not know about you?
Andrew: I roast coffee and love espresso. But I used to be into in-line skating and had purple hair.
Sara: I graduated college with an Elementary Ed. degree and taught 3rd grade and preschool.
At what point in your life were you convinced to become involved with missions?
Andrew: For me, it was right after I graduated Bible school. I was serving in inner-city ministry but realized, if I quit, there would be five people who would apply for my job. And yet, there were still people groups with no witness.
Sara: Before my senior year of college, I was on a traveling ministry team. We ended up in Sanford, Florida, where the Ethnos360 Home Office is. We stopped by to see if we could take a tour. They started the tour by showing “The Taliabo Story,” which illustrates how missionaries brought the Gospel to an unreached people group. I had no idea how, but I knew right then and there I wanted to be a part.
Where’s your favorite place to eat or thing to do here around Waukesha?
Andrew: A Ponza Rotta at Jimmy’s Grotto, of course! It would be so incredibly sad if you left Waukesha without trying one!
Sara: Depends on the day. Pick + Save has $5 Sushi Mondays, Bel Air has $3 Taco Tuesdays and Thursdays… But when it’s warm out, my favorite place to eat is our backyard.
What pastimes do you enjoy?
Andrew: Single-track mountain bike, travel, motorcycles, and coffee.
Sara: I love all things gardening, hiking, studying Biblical archaeology, chatting with my boys and cheering them on (whether it be their 500th soccer game or first marathon), and coffee.
Do you have a “hero of the faith” that you admire, and if so, what about them is inspiring?
Andrew: I was inspired by the fully surrendered life of Jim Elliott when I was in college. It was a pivotal moment for me. He is a full-send kind of guy! I wanna be like that.
Sara: Corrie Ten Boom has always been a hero of mine. Her example of faith and forgiveness under intense persecution is one of the most inspirational stories I have ever read.
Who is your favorite author or musician?
Andrew: I have enjoyed following Jon Foreman’s career. I’ve learned from the pages of Timothy Keller, A.W. Tozer, and Jerry Bridges.
Sara: It’s hard to choose a favorite! I like to switch up genres of music to match the mood / season.
Where is your favorite place to spend time?
Andrew: Home. Outside.
Sara: We absolutely love a good adventure! But there’s no place like home. 🙂
