Meet Our Staff: The Meglis

Joel, Nicole, and their two daughters are another recent addition to the EBI staff. It’s been so great having their talents, humorous comments, and love for the Lord here on campus. I’ve already gotten to enjoy playing a board game with the Megli ladies. If you’re on campus, make sure you find some time to get to know them in the dining hall or wherever else you may run into them.

Where are you from originally?
Joel: Australia
Nicole: Texas

When did you join the Ethnos360 Bible Institute team?
Summer 2024

What’s your role at Ethnos360 Bible Institute?
Joel: Teacher
Nicole: Event Assistant and Homeschool Mom

What is your favorite thing about serving at Ethnos360 Bible Institute?
Joel: Getting to study, meditate on, and teach the life-changing, death-ending story of King Jesus.
Nicole: I love getting to invest in students and have them into our home!

What is something the student body might not know about you?
Joel: Gorgonzola cheese is not the answer to all of your problems, but I have discovered it is the answer to some of them. I enjoy having those problems answered as often as possible.
Nicole: I wanted to be a rock star when I was younger, but now I won’t sing in front of anyone other than my family! Ha!

At what point in your life were you convinced to become involved with missions?
Joel: I planned to head back to Australia after seminary because the needs there were greater than the U.S. And then I realized there were needier places—places where people not only didn’t know about the Gospel but couldn’t know because they didn’t know the right language.
Nicole: I went to Papua New Guinea on the Interface trip in 2009 and knew I wanted to be involved in missions somehow after that.

What’s your favorite place to eat or thing to do here around Waukesha?
Joel: Gorgonzola.
Nicole: We are enjoying Kopp’s custard and sledding in the snow!

What pastimes do you enjoy?
Joel: I love a good game of UNO with my daughters. Especially when they lose.
Nicole: I enjoy alone time with a good book and coffee (with creamer!) but also enjoy being artsy when I have the time.

Do you have a “hero of the faith” that you admire, and if so, what about them is inspiring?
Joel: My father is a farmer. In flood, drought, good years and bad, he has faithfully tilled the soil and tended his crops, flocks, and herds for fifty years.
Nicole: I know a few older women that have an incredible prayer life. I hope to be like that one day!

Who is your favorite author or musician?
Nicole: Our family loves Andrew Peterson—music and books!
Joel: Andrew Peterson. I found him first.

Where is your favorite place to spend time?
Joel: God has given me three amazing ladies—my wife and two daughters. I love hanging out with them.
Nicole: Anyplace with my family! But I would prefer that to be on a beach somewhere with the hot sun and a beautiful view!
