It’s scary to go to a new school and meet the staff. I had heard so many good things about the staff at New Tribes Bible Institute from my brother and sister who attended the school before me.

But still, actually coming two years ago, I had this idea in my mind that they were just “staff people.” They didn’t really know me so there was no way that they could really care about me …and I was so wrong.

The cool thing that I’ve been realizing about staff this semester is that they are people too. Wow. Imagine that. I know it’s a simple truth, but it’s amazing.

They don’t claim to be higher than anyone else. They don’t claim to be better than anyone else. They admit that they are learning too. They acknowledge weaknesses in their lives and give glory to God for the good He has done.

I got to talk to my dean the other day and she blew me away. We had our normal meeting, but then towards the end she took the time to encourage me by letting me know some of the growth she had seen in my life and how proud she was of what God was doing in me.

It reminded me of how Paul writes to some of the churches, so encouraged by their growth and wanting them to stay the course — excited for what lies ahead of them.

Both of us were sitting in her office with tears in our eyes as she continued to talk. All I could think of was how blessed I was to be able to be part of her life. And she was expressing to me the same thing.

Not many other places will give you staff who love the Lord, love His Word, and at the same time really love you. I’m so blessed to have been able to be loved by the staff at the NTBI Jackson campus. What amazing friends God has given me.
