What should I bring?

New Student Packing List

This page has the “What to Bring” list for both single and married students.

What do I need to bring?

Common Items for All Students

  • Clothing:  Due to the ever-changing weather in Wisconsin, you will want clothes appropriate for both very warm and very cold temperatures. You’ll also want to bring clothes for class, work, church, sports, lounging, and sleep. If you enjoy the beach, bring a swimsuit, and don’t forget a winter jacket, boots, hat, mittens, etc for our cold winters. (NOTE: If you do not have cold-weather items, we have great thrift stores in the area!) Additionally, our campus events (and sometimes events in the community) vary from year to year, but have regularly included formal and semi-formal events and occasionally even costume-themed events.
  • Decorations: You may bring decorations. Use only pins, thumbtacks, or small picture nails to hang items. Single students: be aware that space for decorations is limited.
  • Pets: Fish in bowls of 1 gallon or less are allowed. No other pets permitted.
  • Technology & Academic Supplies
    • Laptop: Required for research, writing, assignments, and testing. Minimum specs: 8GB RAM, 100GB free hard drive space. Not compatible: Chromebooks, netbooks, tablets, Linux OS. The online version of Logos has limited capabilities due to the configuration and should not be relied on during your time as a student.
    • Bluetooth-enabled handheld device: Needed for attendance.
    • Printer (Optional): Most assignments are submitted electronically. There’s a printer in the library.
  • Please Do Not Bring
    • Electric blankets
    • Space heaters
    • Candles

Single Students

Our building is a beautifully preserved historic landmark, and each dorm has its own unique character. Every dorm includes two rooms, offering a cozy and distinctive living experience. Each student will have their own bed (bunk bed), part of a closet, and their own dresser. In the study room, each student gets their own desk with a few drawers and a bookshelf.  Your dorm may have a comfy chair or couch. There are bathroom and shower rooms on each dorm floor, as well as a shared kitchen space and lounge area. Laundry facilities are located on the ground floor of our main building (there is no charge for doing your laundry.)

If you enjoy cooking, feel free to bring supplies like pots, pans, cookie sheets, and utensils. A plate, bowl, and silverware, along with plastic storage could also be helpful for bringing dinner back to your dorm. Note: the thrift stores in the area are a great place to pick up used kitchen items. Also, please be aware that there is limited space for storing kitchen items.

Married Students

The size of each married apartment is determined by the size of the family. Our married apartments will have a full kitchen (including a stove and fridge), living room, and bedroom (unless it’s a studio) and a bathroom. All necessary amenities (couch, queen bed, twin beds for kids, a dresser, and table and chairs) will be in the apartment. There is various furniture in storage that may be available. Married housing is also subject to availability.
