Course Description

Through exegetical and expositional methodology, the books commonly called the “general epistles” (James, Jude, 1-2 Peter, and 1-3 John) will be studied systematically. Special attention will be given to the most important themes in each book.

Course Goals

Upon completion of this course the student should:

  1. Articulate the occasion and purpose for each of the General Epistles.
  2. Comprehend the core message of each of the General Epistles and how that message is developed through the structure of each book.
  3. Be able to identify the primary characteristics of false teachers and the threats that they pose to the healthy function of the body of Christ.
  4. Know how to apply the major teachings of each book to their own life and ministry.
