Reflections from 2025 Graduates of EBI

Every year the staff is invited to a dessert night with the graduates. It is a super sweet way to end the year, and to hear how God has been at work in our students. I asked some graduates if they would share their reflections, as I know you will be encouraged as well.

Looking back on the last two years, what is one thing that stands out that God has taught you as a result of your time at EBI?

When I first started EBI, I was immature in a lot of ways. But through God’s word, He revealed my weaknesses, not to shame me, but to refine me. I also found encouragement in my friendships; I found brothers in Christ who were willing to challenge me, pray for me, and show me that growth is not a solitary process, but something we do together. As I step forward, I do so knowing I’m not the same person who walked in. Thanks and glory be to God.”
– Jesse from Waukesha

Throughout my time here one area of my life that has grown immensely has been my vulnerability. Growing up it was incredibly hard to open up about literally anything until I came here and recognized that in order for all of us to do this walk well, we need to share each other’s burdens and that starts with being vulnerable. By bringing my weaknesses, trials, struggles into the light, God has used that to deepen relationships more than I could’ve ever thought and the more real I’ve been with others the more real God’s love has become in my life and I’ve seen growth in so many areas because of that vulnerability.
– Kate from Papua New Guinea

My time at EBI has helped me realize how crucial community truly is. We were created to be relational beings. This lost world strives to be involved with communities that only the Body of Christ can truly satisfy. The church and believers are called to emulate the relationship God had with mankind in Eden, and EBI’s staff and student body encourage that. Living out authenticity, relational connection, and a rooted in Christ has allowed these two years to be incredibly fruitful.”
– Nathan from SE Asia

Something the Lord has taught me during my 2 years at EBI is that Christ’s grace is sufficient. I am reminded of all the things I can’t do on my own, and when I face these things and trials of all kinds, Jesus says to me, “My grace is sufficient, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Cor. 12:9). And it’s been so sweet to see Jesus’ work in my life through my weaknesses. He is faithful to show up every time. I’m so grateful for His grace!”
– Abby from Ohio

From the staff and teachers to my fellow students, I’ve seen their unwavering testimony of God’s love and faithfulness, and it’s been a profound encouragement to me in my own walk with the Lord. Deuteronomy 7:9 (which says “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments”) has come to life in such a personal way as I experience God’s faithfulness through the ministry here. The sense of community here has been such a blessing—being part of the body of Christ, where we work together to edify and build each other up, is truly a privilege. The way God’s truth is applied in everyday life, and how we pursue Him together as a community, is such a powerful reminder of His goodness. I’m continually reminded that God is faithful, and I’m grateful to be surrounded by others who live that out. God really is good, and His covenant of love is so evident in the way we support and encourage one another.
– Madison from Indonesia

When we remember what we have gone through, we usually want to remember the highlights. But sometimes what stands out to us, is not the mountain tops, but the hard things that we have gone through. At the beginning of this school year, someone gave me a letter in which they said “You must rely on the Lord for your strength and everything.” Then they shared Gal 2.20—“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” At the time, I did not realize how true this was. Jesus said that you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. I had been believing some lies which were slowly destroying me. I only truly realized that Christ is my defining identity when the other things that I found my worth in were taken away. Once Jesus is all you have, that is when you realize that is your all.

While EBI may offer a solid curriculum and affordable tuition, these testimonies from our 2025 graduates show they have gained so much more. Saturday they will walk across the graduation stage, knowing their walk with God has only just begun. And we cannot wait to see where He leads them!
